VTE1 over-expressing plants have increased tocopherol indicating VTE1 is a major limiting factor in tocopherol synthesis. Mutants defective in this gene accumulate high amounts of zeaxanthin in conditions of high light or low temperature. Plays a role in the adaptation to low temperature stress, notably phloem loading. |
