In animals, ACL is encoded by a single gene; ACL in Arabidopsis is composed of two polypeptides, ACLA (encoded by 3 genes) and ACLB (encoded by 2 genes). The holoenzyme has an A(4)B(4)stoichiometry. Expression of both ACLA and ACLB but not of either of the subunits alone results in ACL activity. |
