TAIR curator summary | Encodes a cytosolic phosphoglucomutase (PGM). Two Arabidopsis PGM proteins (AT1G70730/PGM2 and AT1G23190/PGM3) have high sequence similarities and redundant functions. Mature plants possessing a single cPGM allele had a major reduction in cPGM activity. Whereas pgm2 and pgm3 single mutants are undistinguishable from the wild type, loss of both PGM2 and PGM3 severely impairs male and female gametophyte development. |
